A case of the mysterious typo double tap

For some reason I'm experiencing double taps with the letters e, s, r and sometimes i.

Got into the system preferences and set the keyboard to slowest responses possible, but when I hit those 4 keys, the letters will often repeat. Not always, but often enough to be frustrating.

It started a couple of months ago and has gotten slightly worse. I'll play a game and think, wow, that's gonna be a good score and...YIKES!!! Face plant!

I'll review the words played and see 10, 12, 15 and more words that I know I typed that weren't recorded. Easy, common words like ene, een, reen, resee, deare, seases and on and on and on. Any word that has any of those 4 letters can fall victim.

I realize I'm getting older, but when I hold my hands out, there's only an almost imperceptible quiver in the fingers. So, I don't think it's corporeal.

Anyone have a clue as to what might be the cause? I'm a computer dimwit, so...

It's gotten to the point where playing the game is becoming more annoying than fun.

maybe you are wearing out those keys. They sound like more common letters, maybe even in rare words. Is the key face more worn on those letters than others?

I had a similar thing happen. If you have a desktop, replacing a keyboard is simple and easy. If you have a laptop, you need to get a bluetooth keyboard and pair it with your computer (look up the directions; I'd mess it up if I tried to tell you how). And now you have a different keyboard with no sticky keys or gunk. You can also get a keyboard with a USB cable to plug in, and it will replace your existing keyboard. That costs a LITTLE bit more, but you get maybe a nicer keyboard and have more choices. I'd rant about poor quality stuff these days, but considering all the times you've pressed that particular key and all the junk that's fallen into the keyboard over the years I think your keyboard has probably done a pretty good job.

I play so much I can pound a brand new laptop keyboard into submission in less than 6 months

I've resorted to buying cheapo refurbs on eBay......
