    How are points calculated?

Some relevant details aren't in the crate escape rules or FAQ:
I can see that leaderboards are sorted by *fewest moves* and *fewest pushes*, and I think I've figured out that leaderboards are then sorted by *fastest time* for when multiple finishers had the same number of moves & pushes? And that using a hint counts as a no-solve for your stats and disqualifies you from the leaderboard for that puzzle.

But I haven't figured out the pattern for what finish conditions lead to the most points.

So how are points calculated for crate escape puzzles?

Points are based on (a) difficulty level, (b) number of moves, (c) number of pushes and (d) time elapsed. The algorithm for this is admittedly not yet finely-tuned, as we don't yet have enough real-world solve data to properly determine difficulty levels and user averages just yet. Generally we update these about 6-12 months after the launch of a new site so that scoring is more in tune with real-world solving statistics.
