How to get better?

I have been practicing the aristocrat ciphers but I'm not really sure how to get better. It usually takes a 1-3 mins for me to solve each one. Are there strategies/tricks/methods I should practice to get better. I know about letter frequency, common letter patterns, <3 letter words, etc- but I still get stuck frequently on longer and abnormal words. I've tried to guess and check but it takes ages. How do you guys get sub 1 min or 30 sec solve times?

Practice more. Quit your job, ignore your family. The cryptogram supply is never-ending. No, seriously, the super-fast solvers have solved at least 20,000 cryptograms already. And also they have innate skill and fast connections.
