While there have been some font changes, etc, I think that admin (Stephen) has being doing a great job with things, which can't be easy during any changeover . When I lost my current identity (probably because I wasn't too careful in updating emaail addresses), he restored it within minutes. Pretty much by accident, I found a glitch that let me pause a board, pretty much indefinitely as far as I could tell. I told him about it & he fixed that quickly. Anyway, I really appreciate his work here.

You made the change to lower case while I was asking for the change. I couldn't ask for faster service than that!

Please note: A REALLY long time ago, there was a debate about using upper-case or lower case letters on a teletype. Apparently you could have one or the other but not both. The engineer in charge of the project, a guy working for IBM, decided that upper-case would be the default, since doing otherwise would allow "god" to appear in (gasp) lowercase. Since then, study after study has shown that lowercase letters are easier to read, that reading speed is higher for lower case letters, etc. I would personally find it far more preferable to have the default be lower-case, just for reasons of ease-of-use.

I've removed the caps and increased font-size and spacing instead. Trying to find a happy medium that will appease everyone.

Re: stats, yes, lifetime stats will have lost some games from the days leading up to the migration. Sorry about that, I tried to keep data loss to a minimum but some were unavoidable.

Thanks for the reply--change does suck! I just now discovered my issue with the avatar is only occurring on Chrome which is of course my browser of preference. I can see others' avatars but not my own! Very odd.........

Mine shows up just fine on other browsers, Firefox, Safari on my iPad, etc.........I'll do as you suggested and contact the admin directly and see if he can fix this.......

Anyone else notice that their total in lifetime high score had gone down after the new server?
I had passed the 20,000 game mark in 5x5, but after the new server I was well below.
Guessing that the update failed to capture history that was at least a few days earlier than March 1st.

That's good Russ and mdyak seem to have recovered their avatars. I'd like to get back the 87 best word and 92 longest word records that were blotted out overnight by the migration. But something tells me that's not going to happen. At least it wasn't hundreds or thousands of them lost. Did anyone else have their stats altered significantly?
(My apologies for adding to the bitchfest here, Stephen. I know you're doing everything you can. I held off mentioning it until today. Not a huge deal for me: I lost a little under a week's worth of game play.)

Now everything is in all CAPS?? I would prefer mine to be in lower case. Can that be changed?

Besides being lighter, the font is also much more narrow and things seemed squished.

Does anyone else find the new colors super hard on your eyes? I swear I've "gone stupid" playing with the new visuals.

I also find the new font when typing in the words hard on my eyes. It's a little too light for me. It's not nearly as easy to see as before!

Old avatars may be cached by your local browser, so new ones may not show up right away for you until you clear your cache or do a forced refresh (SHIFT+REFRESH).

Yup, the text box where you type words has a lighter color font--takes some getting used to. BTW, I noticed your avatar appears when I check the "online" link to see who is online. Any idea why mine does not show up? It's showing up correctly in the top right corner of the WordTwist home page and on my forum posts but doesn't show up when I click on the "online" or "my scores" links........

My avatar shows up properly because I got completely overwhelmed by the new system, wrote to Stephen, and he offered to do it for me.

Me too--I keep asking this hoping for an answer--I noticed your avatar shows up in the Online and My Scores links but mine is only showing up in the top right corner and in forum posts--do you know how you got yours to show up in the Online and My Scores pages?
