  • Raising the average, simpler and better explanation

If you have played 55 games with an average of 300 and want to raise your average by one whole point, you need to score one more point over average for every game you will have played. So, you'd need to score 56 points over average, or 356. If you wanted to raise your average by one point over the next five games, you'd need to score 60 points over average over those next five games, and you could spread those 60 points any way you want. Why 60 points? Because after 5 more games, you'd have played 60 games. Right now, I've played 57 games. If I want to raise my average by a point after my next game, I need to score 58 points over my average in the next game. Is this better than the last explanation?
