Comments on puzzles

I have commented before about the invisibility of puzzle comments. I just finished puzzle #491. I know this because I see that madmax commented on it two years ago. But that comment is not available to me, although I’ve completed the puzzle.

Tell me please, what is the purpose of the public comment section? It eludes me.

Sometimes people comment on a mistake in the puzzle or the clues. I wonder if sometimes those comments are eliminated after the mistake is corrected. Just a wild guess.

Sometimes my connection drops out before I get a chance to finish my comment. I’m guessing that’s what happened to madmax. I’ve also seen comments on mistakes that have been fixed, so they don’t delete them. I like to remark on how beautiful or stupid that quote was, or reply to the author. Or simply say, “Great book!”, if I’ve read and liked it.
