In the first line, the bird called out is an 'evening grossbeak', except the actual spelling of the bird's name is 'grosbeak'. Even with this mispelled bird name, the puzzle doesn't work as with the spelling of 'grossbeak', clue D 'close call' comes ou neab disaster instead of near disaster. It appears that it is not possibile to fiddle with the letters to get a SOLUTION. Good thing I'm not at 100% for the month.
