ad pages continuously opening

As of today, 2/7/25, the Universal theme park add keeps opening new pages. Even if I never click on it, even if I just sit their with my hands in my lap, new add tabs keep opening. This never happened before

Keeps happening to me too, but with Marriott ads. Opening over and over again without me clicking anywhere near it. Super frustrating.

Thanks for letting me know - can you let me know what browser/operating system you're using when this happens?

This same thing is happening to me with the Pendo ad when playing Star Battles, and the first time it happened was a different ad, possibly jag, or something like that. It's making playing the game nearly impossible since keeps happening, perhaps each 15 seconds or so? And I'm currently playing through Chrome on Windows 11.

Thanks everyone for the help in tracking this down. I still can't replicate it here but will continue to try to do so with Chrome. In the meantime I'm bumping everyone up to premium for 1 week to get rid of this problem for you immediately while we track down the source.

updated to Version 133.0.6943.60 (Official Build) (64-bit) - can't advise under premium whether it's still of issue

in FYI - does not appear to occur using Edge

Thanks squitchy11/capnelaine for the additional info. I've been running tests on my Chrome browser since yesterday and so far still am unable to replicate it - I've even had several of the same advertisers show up (Universal, Marriott, etc.) but still not seeing pop-ups or automated tab openings. Obviously this is definitely happening for some people, I'm wondering if it might be a geotargeted thing only affects certain regions.

It started with me yesterday morning, stopped later and recurred again in the evening. It is now back again this evening. Running Chrome on Windows 11 in eastern Virginia.

It looks like we're not going to get a solution to this until tomorrow at the earliest due to the weekend. In the meantime I'm continuing to upgrade anyone experiencing this issue to premium (ad free) free of charge for 1 week, just post here with your browser/operating system and I'll process the upgrades as I see them.

Experiencing the same here. Using latest version Chrome mobile browser for Android in Indiana. Has happened in lasergrids and star battles, didn't try others. I tried logging into my old account (I usually don't bother) and that didn't help.

Edit: managed to prevent it by blocking redirects and pop-ups in my browser settings, but it'll break other sites so it's not a permanent fix. There's also a huge lag spike every time a new ad loads now, I'm assuming that's a ton of redirect requests.

Hi, still happening, noticed on Windows 10 laptop and PC does not occur. On Chromebooks it opens the ads in new tab about every 5 minutes.
