  • Ad keeps interrupting puzzle, sending to scam website!

While playing on the puzzle screen: https://campsites.puzzlebaron.com/play.php
One of the ads keeps taking over and sending the puzzle tab to a new website address:
https:// m4nw6uas .online/ ...random characters... (spaces added to avoid hyperlink)

The screen displays "McAfee Privacy Protection" and informs that my computer is likely infected with "viruses".
    (screenshot below)
I do NOT have McAfee installed; this is clearly a fake alert/phishing scam, especially based on the redirected website URL.

In order to play, I either need to keep saving my progress, so I can go back and finish the puzzle, or install an ad blocker, which effectively removes the ability for the website to collect ad revenue.
This behavior has been occurring for at least a week now. I'm not seeing the same issue on the other two puzzle sites I visit (Star Battles, Numbergrids).

    Please advise and thanks!!

Thank you for posting this! I have reported this to our ad management company and am trying my best to replicate it here in order to track down the source.

Usually I can replicate the issue and collect the necessary information to track down an ad (via a .HAR file) but unfortunately I have not been able to get this ad to load for me at all, no matter what I try.

At this point what I really need is for someone who is having this problem to collect their own .HAR file - and I'm willing to reward the first person who can successfully do this, and email me the appropriate .HAR file that finally determines the source of this ad, with a 2 year premium account, free of charge. If you're interested, here's how to do that:

    1. Open a brand new window/instance of whatever browser you were using when this ad first appeared. Make sure only one window/tab is open on that browser, and load the same Puzzle Baron site in that window/tab where you previously saw this ad.

    2. Open the "Developer Tools" in your browser (often by tapping the F12 key) and start recording network activity. This will record all network requests made during your browser session and allow you to save it to a .HAR file. This page (IT Help - Collecting .HAR Files and Console logs) will explain exactly how to do this in all four major browsers.

    3. Keep using the Puzzle Baron site, while network recording is turned ON, until this ad reappears for you. The moment it appears, click download/save to save the .HAR file locally to your computer. (Again, this page - IT Help - Collecting .HAR Files and Console logs - explains how to do this in all major browsers)

    4. Email that .HAR file as an attachment to puzzlebaron@gmail.com It might be very large so you may need to zip it before sending.

Again, my apologies that this has been happening to you - if you're able at all to collect the necessary .HAR file I would greatly appreciate it, but if you'd rather not bother I totally understand.
