What explains this?

I know there's probably an explanation but why on earth is my average time showing as 772.2 seconds when I rarely even go over 100 seconds solving a puzzle?

Maybe you came back to an unsolved puzzle after a very long pause and solved it. If the timer on this site works the same as it does on the cryptograms site, then it keeps ticking all through that long pause. In that case, solving an hours-old unsolved game that's waiting in the "Recent Games" tab can really throw off your average time for the month.
