Hum, looks like you're right. Going through it a second time, I had to use that clue. Guess I must've used it without realizing it the first time!

In #145083, I didn't need Clue 1 to place Mick Jagger's ex.

I have noticed that whenever I manage to get a sub-20 time on the Rookie puzzles, my final listed time adds several seconds. Earlier today, the puzzle informed me that I'd completed it in 16 seconds. But when it advanced to the next screen giving me my stats, it said that my time was 24 seconds. And just now, I managed to complete a puzzle in 16 seconds, only for it to be listed in the stat page as 29 seconds, almost twice as long.

It was puzzle C3NT5DZS, if it matters.

There is (IMHO) an excessive amount of guess-and-check to place Brooks, Dawson, and Lily in this puzzle. Especially for one labeled "Medium".

I did it in 5 min, 43 seconds but I agree. I got it down to the five squares where the suspects were, then had to look to see which squares had equal distances between them. Remembering that Miriam had to be adjacent to Brooks also helped.
