    New: Smart Hints

We've just now launched the new "Smart Hints" feature - whereas before, requesting a hint would just set a random square to its proper guilty or innocent state, now the new smart hint function will actively consider your current grid state and come up with the next most logical (and "easiest") deduction that can be made. It will also tell you which clue or clues it used to make that logical deduction.

I've run the new feature on nearly a hundred puzzles so far without finding any bugs so I'm hoping it's solid, but if you notice any strange behavior please let me know.

Also, unnecessary clues have now been removed from approximately 11% of our puzzles. With any luck we've caught all of them in this update but if you still see a clue on a puzzle that you didn't actually need in order to solve it, please either post it here or email me at puzzlebaron@gmail.com.

    Thanks!

    Stephen

Thanks so much for the smart clues! They are so much more helpful by explaining what I missed!

Unless I am missing something, this Hint does not make sense:

Clue 8 (3 out of 4 corners are guilty) means that either Alexis or Zachary have to be guilty (technically from clue 8 they could both be guilty but then Uriel would have 5 people in his sight). Clue 3 along with the others you've determined to be guilty means that Uriel only has one more guilty person in his sight, so it has to be either Alexis or Zachary. Yasmin would have to be innocent along with Frank and Kelsey.

        Exactly right!

In an ideal world the hint server would be able to provide an eloquent full explanation like that, but it's not quite there yet - maybe in a future update.
