Anyone have a clue as to why the writer Iris Murdoch is always listed on this site as Irish Murdoch?

Actually, Irish is an uncommon woman's name that you can find in a baby name dictionary. One example of this is Irish McCalla, who portrayed Sheena, Queen of the Jungle on television. She was probably considered to be rather scantily clad for '50s television:

Iris vs Irish
The Amazon listing for the book cited in the review above is:
Iris a Memoir of Iris Murdoch by John Bayley (Paperback - Sep 9, 1999)
If you Google it, there are:
664,000 hits on "Iris Murdoch"
4,550 hits on "Iris Murdock"
3,550 hits on "Irish Murdoch"
It is a **** typo, for crying out loud.Comment

lol, sheesh yourself, jk.
It doesn't really matter I guess...
To much posts might cause the forums to overload or something, but we don't have to worry about that for now.Comment

Dame Murdoch
maradnu, I think you misunderstand. I read Iris Murdoch's "Under The Net" 20 years ago and am well aware that her first name is Iris. I was just being facetious noting that there is a new contributor named "Blessing Irish." To my knowledge, there is not a person whose first name is "Blessing" and surname is "Irish."
LIGHTPIE, I don't know how you could accuse me of spamming. I'm not posting any links and I'm not hawking any wares.Comment
