A weird glitch when retrying skipped puzzles

I just discovered that there is a scroll down menu that allows you to retry a cryptogram puzzle you skipped. I had accidentally skipped one a few hours ago so I decided to "retry" it. However, when I solved it, it said that it took me 38,000 seconds to solve! So essentially the timer just keeps going even during the time you have exited the puzzle? Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes that is how it always works. The time starts ticking as soon as you open a puzzle and continues until you solve it, including if you reopen it later from your recent puzzles.

yea this ruined my average time last month. went from low 40s to high 60s after a quote that took thousands of seconds

That's happened to lots of us! After the first time, though, you know better LOL.
