Is it just me?

I don't know if it's my computer, but the site has been incredibly slow the last couple of days. I'm waiting over 60 seconds to be able to click any of the boxes in some puzzles. Plus, the Play link requires several clicks before it loads a new puzzle (and if I don't wait long enough between clicks I get more than one puzzle loaded).

I've tried shutting down my computer and starting again but it doesn't make any difference

I have occasionally had only a little slowness - perhaps 5 to 10 seconds to load a puzzle.

Occasionally, I've noticed that it does not register when I click "play". I'll look at the bottom left and bottom right of the browser to see if it indicates that it is loading a puzzle. If it isn't, I'll click "play" again, but otherwise not. If it seems to be taking a while, look. If it reads 'loading' or 'connecting' or something like that, you have a slow load, otherwise, it may not have registered your 'click'.

I have had my browser crash a few times on me just lately. When I reopen it, it will generally restore where I was, but that does add some time to the puzzle.

If it is truly loading slowly, I'd wonder what kind of an internet connection you have.

Thanks Maradnu. I usually do look to see whether it's loading, but it doesn't always show in the status line right away even when it is.

well, whatever it is I truly hope it gets better. You are one of the best, and (no offense) I thought I had a chance at the 3rd place trophy for success rate this month...but ya got me! LOL I hope it works out and if I have the time I'll try for third again. I got a new computer for x-mas and it helps. I wish you the best, and Merry Christmas! You are really great at this.

I've been edged out for a top spot more than once, and managed to squeak though a few times. Not to worry. You, Laura, and Di are the only ones who manage top ten in both speed and accuracy. That counts for something.

The Future Is Coming

In 25 years, they'll probably have all the kinks ironed out of the internet and we'll all have a good laugh about the lag time and connectivity problems we're having today. The DSL of today will seem as primitive as the televisions some of us watched when we were very young. You wouldn't have a sharp digital image, maybe not even color. You had to draw all the drapes or you couldn't see the picture in the sunlight. Every little thing could cause interference--say a bird on the aerial or someone running another appliance. (I HATED it when Mom vacuumed during "Lost in Space!") And you had that annoying little white dot that never seemed to disappear even if you stared at it for an hour.



One day we'll all have a good laugh over this.

Kat, I'm so sorry about getting ahead of you. I was trying not to but after seeing the ranks for top points I figured I better not spend so much time doing logic puzzles. The competition is really heating up on this site! Anyway, the feeling is quite mutual and I also think you're one of the nicest people I have "forum-ed" with. Thank you!
