Hi! I'm relatively new here and I was wondering how points are awarded. I've always thought they would give fast solvers more points. Then sometimes, I take super long on a cryptogram and it actually gives me more points than if I took around the average time. However, if I go back to retry a puzzle and it adds all the time I've spend away from it, my points are super low (which makes sense!).

Welcome, crimsonapple! The puzzles are divided into three categories: easy (worth 150 points), average (worth 300) and difficult (450). For every 7 seconds you spend on a puzzle, you lose 1 point. This formula was not discovered by me. I believe it was Maradnu who figured it out.

I should have said for every 6 seconds or part thereof, you lose one point.
