New puzzles

Hi folks -

Just a quick update - we've added 2,575 new puzzles to the rotation today. Remember that newer puzzles will not display end-statistics until they've been solved a certain number of times.

Thanks also to everyone who's been providing feedback via the new comment-system - it's allowed me to catch a number of incomplete quotes and spelling errors that have slipped through the cracks.

I try to get attributions whenever possible, and lately a number of players have been quite helpful in sending in suggested attributions for those still lacking a proper author. Every bit of help is appreciated! The one thing I can offer, though, is that we're no longer adding new "unattributed" quotes... every quote added now has a proper author from the get-go.

Speaking of new quotations, I've included at least one in this latest batch that should keep long-time solvers on their toes... I'm waiting to see the first comments come in for this one! I'm sure folks will either love it or hate it. :-)

(And no, no foreign-language in it - it's all English... in a way...)

Hint: The puzzle's subject matter has to do with a certain feature found in certain computer programs.

It may or may not end up being a head-scratcher... I've not tried solving it myself in crypto-format, but when I saw the quote I had a feeling it would raise some boos and yays from the crowd. We'll see. :-)

When I first read that the new head scratcher was "English ... in a way", I was thinking Native American, British, Texan or other southern, but no, apparently it's geek-speak - even worse!

Well, the good news is: the puzzle in question is solvable. It's been solved by one registered used so far. (Three others loaded it and quit - all guests though). Maybe it's not quite as tricky as I'd thought. :-)

Puzzle

A few things come to mind, when he says it is English - sort of.

Lewis Carroll with "Jabberwocky" or "Through the Looking Glass" or Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales" in Middle English. Carroll taught mathematics and used it in some of his work, and programming is mathematically based.
