  • You Don't Want To Hear About Errors

I find the setup of this site to be very frustrating.

I have researched more than a hundred quotes since I started playing a few weeks ago.

I have found lots of errors (most of which are spread all over the Net, and not local to cryptograms.org). But I can't tell you about them!

I joined today so I could leave comments on the quotes. But when I'm logged in, I can't use Hints. This ruins the enjoyment of the site for me; thus, I can only play logged out.

So, when I find out the true author of a quote, or debunk the stated author, or discover the original wording of a quote, or find that there is no error, when others have voted that there is, all I can do is hit a Possible Errors vote. I can't say what the error is, even though I have researched it. I have the information, but I'm not allowed to communicate it.

I think this is a dumb design.

    Hi Reader4 -

If you want to play while logged in and not compete (i.e. still get hints) you can certainly do so - just go to "Edit Profile" (http://www.cryptograms.org/forum/pro...do=editprofile) while you're logged into your account, and select "Do Not Compete" near the bottom of the screen, and save.

    Thanks for playing,
    Stephen
