Typing misprints

I notice in some comments the some punctuation marks are transformed from their intent, like the use of an apostrophe, i.e. don't, to a set of varying symbols not normally used in English.
Any know the reason for this and perhaps how to over come it?

I just ran across this suggestion, but I have yet to try it out:



Copy and paste the whole document into notepad first, then copy the notepad text and paste that into your site. I think that should fix it.

In other words, write your comment in a text document first, then copy and paste it into
the comment box. I have given up on using tildes, accents and cedillas in the comments because they always paste wrong. Unfortunately, I can't test this suggestion right now, because I would need to leave a comment with uncommon diacritics or punctuation, and then wait (possibly months) until I again run across the crypto on which I left the comment.

Actually, it is not my current typing of comments that show this anomaly. It was actually one of yours that showed up in the 'comments' column. If you haven't noticed this, perhaps is something on my end.

What has happened is that the quotation marks he typed turned into the symbols you see when displayed on my computer. This happens at other times with documents I receive. I am trying to find out why.

I see these symbols sometimes, I don't think that it's always Bansai's comments.

You're right. I'm not saying it has anything to do with his comments particularly. His was just the first example of those odd characters I came across.

Webpages are written and loaded using encoding. Most encoding is either
UTF 8 or Western ISO..etc.
If you see strange characters go to tools in your browser and find
encoding, switch to UTF or another code; reload the page and the characters
should disappear.
