i don't have a mouse--i use the touch pad--so there's no drifting occurring.

The sony ad was preventing me from solving the puzzle

In order to be able to finish solving the puzzle, I had to leave the cryptograms.org website - then I returned to it and clicked on "Recent Puzzles" and hit the "Retry" box, to get back to the puzzle I was working on. It took up a lot of time, but there seemed to be no other way to keep my 100% solving rate.Comment

Oh yeah, it's still lurking out there, I try to be careful, but then I forget about it and pop it up. I am usually able to get rid of it and don't have to go to "recent games", but it still take some time. I trip over it at least 4 or 5 times a day Comment

stephen, it looks like you've succeeded in removing the evil ad, for which i am very grateful!

however, i have my doubts as to whether the timing was accidental---that ad was evil enough to KNOW when you were gone and that we had been left unprotected! (wiggle your eyebrows a few times, groucho-style, as you read that last part.)Comment

 another "evil" ad!

 shades of the sony ads!!

i just had a 'golden nugget' ad to the right of my puzzle (another "roll over here for details" ad that jumps out even if you don't roll over it)---suddenly their video covered most of the puzzle. i clicked and clicked on the "close x" in the upper right corner but it ignored me for quite a while--each time i clicked on it, the letters "close x" would sort of jiggle & bend and then re-set--very weird!

i was just getting ready to go the "recent games" route when it finally closed and i could get back to the puzzle.

 whee!Comment

 another floating ad

I too have been bothered by a floating ad. Mine is something green on the left side. I didn't investigate fully, but it appears to be some sort of survey that says "your opinion counts". I believe it pops in when my mouse rolls over the link for "hate ads?", but cannot be certain. I just quickly close it to get back to my puzzle.Comment

 these blasted golden nugget ads

i've had that one, too---only once---some sort of survey---i'll pay more attention if i see it again.
but this golden nugget is really ticking me off---speaking of which, it's to the right of this page right now. i'm giving it the evil eye and daring it to expand---it seems to be working, but it's hard to do that while one is trying to solve a puzzle.Comment
