I often enjoy the comments section as much as or more than the cryptogram itself; so much so that I'd like to be able to follow the conversation. I know you can subscribe to a forum thread. Is there similar functionality for the comments that I've just missed? Or is this one of those things in life you just have to let go, the better to appreciate it if it comes your way again?

As Seals and Crofts once sang, "We may never pass this way again." My uncle really liked that song. As far as I know the only way to follow a comments conversation is to randomly hit on the quote again, days months or a year or two down the road. Sometimes I see something that I wrote and I think (with relief) "at least I didn't say anything stupid." And then there are times when I say to myself, "What in Heaven's name was I thinking when I wrote that?!" Seldom do I remember writing the comment. I love Monty's comments and Bansai's, too. Most of the regulars here leave comments that are thoughtful or witty, as you've picked up on. Wish I could give you the answer you'd like to be reading, but there it is...

It's also cool when you get the same puzzle years later and are about to make a comment, only to see that you've already posted the same thing! I suspect you can't subscribe to the comments because that is access to the answer to a puzzle.Comment

Somehow the time lapse adds to my enjoyment of the comments. It looks like a conversation, but there may be a year or more between one comment and the next.Comment

I also love the comments that are left, and that's a big reason why I try to solve ALL the cryptos I get. You can tell which ones "tickle" the reactions of many folks....mostly political in nature. Many times I've written my own long-winded reaction, only to erase it completely, so as not to add fuel to the fire already going on! Sometimes the comments are like a story and so much fun to read again! I've been red-faced a few times by the stupid comments I made years ago, so I try like hell now to pause a bit before I submit them.Comment
