  • Holy glitch!

So I decided to check my scores and noticed that my success rate had gone down since the last time I checked, even though I was positive I hadn't left any puzzles unfinished since then. I went to look at recent games, and there were 26 unsolved puzzles that all said they had been started 3 minutes before!! I had never seen any of them come up though. What gives? Anybody else ever have this happen?

    yikes!

yes, i once had over 300 unsolved at exactly the same time! i immediately took screen shots of all the pages and emailed stephen (admin@puzzlebaron.com)

      same thing here

I'm now in the habit of checking my 'recent games' tab every time I play. Nine chances out of ten there are a few cryptos that I supposedly left unsolved.

        Same glitch here

Same for me. All of a sudden I saw my success rate drop precipitously. I went to recent games and found SEVEN unsolved puzzles. Fortunately they were within 5 minutes so I went and solved each of them. My success rate was restored (99.6%) but my time for the month went to hell and my overall average dropped a few tenths. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING????

That is puzzling, especially since I have never (knock on wood) experienced that particular glitch. I have discovered single uncompleted puzzles from time to time, but I have always been able to trace them to inadvertent double clicks of my mouse.

I'm using a MacBook (2016 version) without a mouse. I changed the settings on my trackpad to the very basic because I was also inadvertently double clicking, probably because I'm technologically challenged. I also never log out. It might be helpful to identify the types of equipment being used by the players who are finding surprise multiple unsolved quotes.

I'm using a Dell Latitude 3440 (no idea what year) with a wireless mouse. I know in the past I have accidentally double clicked and had one puzzle that I never really saw, but there's no way I could have clicked past 20+ puzzles simultaneously!

My setup is about the same as what letfreedomring describes -- Macbook, no mouse, trackpad -- though my Macbook is a 2011 model. I have never seen unsolved puzzles in my Recent Games list that I could not account for, and I do check the list at least once daily. I have occasionally had a "double load" -- 2 puzzles loaded in rapid succession -- but that has always been because I accidentally double-tapped on the trackpad.

                  Holy Glitch

I have been hit with this phenomenon several times. The latest event was today (7/2/18) and it showed up twice. The first time was 33 "unsolved" puzzles over an indicated time period of about 2 minutes. The second time it was 380+ (over three hundred eighty puzzles) over an indicated time period of just a few minutes. I can usually tell when it is going to happen--I finish a cryptogram, and hit CHECK. If the response is quick, I'm OK. If it stutters for a few seconds, then my solve rate does a nose dive! Frustrating to say the least.

                    Holy Glitch

10 minutes later--Must be my day in the barrel! I solved 3 cryptograms, and got credited with another 33 "unsolved" puzzles. I probably have the all time low monthly record for solving percentage, and it's only July 2.

all of you are reporting these occurrences to admin, right? and always take screenshots of them on your "recent games" list, as they only stay on the list for 24 hours.

if you don't know how to take a screenshot, just google "how to take a screenshot on ___ (your computer)". on my oldish toshiba laptop, it's as easy as holding down on both the 'ctrl' and 'fn' keys (they're side by side on bottom left) and pressing the 'end/prtsc' key above the numeric keys (on top right). easy peasy!

after taking the screenshot, you can paste it to a new email--if you need to take more than one screenshot, just keep repeating the process, pasting one under the other in your email.

when i had to take screenshots of over 300 games, i temporarily reduced the font size of the "recent games" page a bit to reduce the number of pages i had to copy.

Thanks, wvwoman. I have a Mac and the screenshot process is shift, command, 4; drag crosshair to where the copy should start, drag it through the copy and release mouse or trackpad. Copy will be on desktop. I'm at fault for the unsolved quotes, so I check it regularly. My wi-fi is the best I can get through AT&T in FL, and my Mac processor is 1.1 GHz Intel Core m3. I have no idea what any of that means, but including it for anybody who does. I'm afraid technology passed me a while ago and I'm not even tempted to try to keep up.

just my 2 cents worth. I mostly use my 8 yr old Asus desktop for solving....wired mouse. I have comcast for phone/TV/internet and pay for fastest time.
10 years ago "double loads" NEVER happened, and I suspect that has something to do with internet "traffic" being so different now.
What I have noticed is that when I have multiple loads in "recent games" I've also had some glitch or another w/ either the phone or TV. Mind you, they're not a big deal at the time and usually resolve themselves.
But my theory is that "internet traffic" and networks that are sometimes overworked are more to blame than what your fingers are doing. After all, what sense does it make to have over 30 or more downloads when you've spent only a second on the mouse pad? Makes no sense at all.
The reality is that ALL providers lie about their service in order to get our $. Unless you work for one, you really have no idea what their capacity is when challenged by many users.
