This might seem a silly question, but I'm wondering how other people got into puzzles and their motivation for this daily habit. I'm mostly addressing the heavy puzzlers. There are some users on here who are doing 20-100 puzzles a day!
Like most people on Earth, I've played puzzles casually since childhood, but I became a daily player of jigsaw last year when I quit smoking and needed something short to do with time I would formerly use to smoke and think. Jigsaws were actually very helpful in retraining me not to crave a smoke break. I played nearly every puzzle multiple times (hundreds of them) on another site, and just found this site to quench my thirst for different puzzles. I mostly use puzzles to procrastinate against or decompress from more mentally intensive activities like research and writing. I'm basically addicted to puzzles at this point, but meh. Better than smoking!
