Rotated Pieces Not Connecting

I am new to this site and just played two puzzles with the rotating feature turned on. One issue is the rotated pieces don't connect unless they are oriented properly.

Is there a setting or something to change that? I mean either pieces connect or they don't - orientation shouldn't matter until the puzzle is complete.

that is a help in some ways - when you can connect them you know they are properly oriented. It is particularly helpful with abstract images or those that have backgrounds such as sand.
