Clock still runs after saving puzzle

Am I missing something? After I save a puzzle so I can work on it later, the clock keeps ticking and I end up with a miserable score. There has to be a way to exit and return later without penalty, but I haven't found it.

This bothers me as well. I can understand disabling what is, effectively, a "pause" feature on some kinds of puzzles, but on a jigsaw puzzle, there seems no way to use the save puzzle option to cheat. I am not really sure why the save option even exists, as it appears to have exactly the same result as simply walking away from one's computer while a puzzle is on the board.
