I can't remember what I got stuck on specifically because I got frustrated and just erased everything.

Try this, it's a grid that has all the text filled in. (It's currently set to "Draw Conclusions", which will fill in squares for you as you go along, so you can change that if you want to do it all yourself.)

From my own attempt, the puzzle is relatively straightforward, but you have to be diligent in filling in the grid, since most of the eliminations don't have to do with the date of the shipwreck.
