There's no clue that tells Ken from John. John was only mentioned once (not heading east). Either could fit for none or twelve fragments and for Southeast or Southwest. Only one solution should fit the clues

I donīt have the puzzle, but I noticed you used capitals for Southeast and Southwest, but not for heading east. If this difference is made throughout the clues I would conclude that John is not only going not East, but also not in an easterly direction which would exclude him going Southeast. Just a thought
