  • New blocked logic puzzles, despite allowing ads

I no longer pay premium, which is on me and my finances, but I do always allow ads to be shown because I want to support the logic puzzles.

This has never been a problem until today when everytime I try to start a new puzzle, the puzzle gets blocked by telling me to please turn off my ad blocker -- but it's off for the entire site, so I'm unsure what else you want me to do.

I stuck a quick screenshot below - you can see the green adblock icon (with a very shaky arrow) telling me and everyone else that this site is allowed to show ads, but the popup is there too - blocking the puzzle, and no matter what I do, telling me to turn off ads - which are already off. So I guess no puzzles for me.

Is this how it is going to be now?

If you click on "continue without supporting us" it goes away

But meanwhile the ads are showing up, and the puzzle has started but I can't play it while I'm busy clicking the pop-up which shouldn't be there asking me to do what is already done and waiting for it to appear and disappear -- it's a slow pop-up.

As you can see here, the ads are allowed - and showing up. I even allowed 3rd party cookies hoping that would help, despite my serious misgivings about doing that, but nothing helps, and what exactly is the point of challenging myself to beat my own times when the thing (even the ads --- which you can see here) are blocked?

I mean, if this is meant to ask us to subscribe, a simple post would be more in keeping with generally good relationships.

        Hi Ella -

From your screenshots it looks like no ads are loading, so something in your browser seems to still be blocking ads - which would cause this alert to keep popping up. It might be your security settings. I see a Malware Bytes logo in your Chrome bar next to your AdBlocker plugin. Malware Bytes also provides an Ad Blocking service which you may unknowingly have enabled. Try clicking that blue M and see if there is an option to disable their ad blocker as well.

If the problem persists please email me at puzzlebaron@gmail.com and we'll get you sorted out one way or the other.

I also intend to contact our ad management company (they're putting these pop-ups in place, not us) so I can better understand the expected behavior when someone clicks "Continue without disabling ad blocker".

If you enjoy our puzzles, please consider upgrading to a premium account to remove all ads and help support us financially. Thanks for your support!

Thanks muchly. I was having a bad day yesterday, and came to zone out with a puzzle to chill for a moment. Obviously that backfired. I apologize for my temper! When I have a moment, I will see what happens with my other browsers, check out malwarebytes and start again. Be well all!
