  • There are multiple greater/lesser than clues

Could someone help me understand this hint? How could I have come to this deduction?

"There are multiple greater/lesser than clues that place pink bottom and Edna's Edibles both at the same exact step distance from two different items in the same category. This means pink bottom cannot be equal to Edna's Edibles."

The pink bottom costs $5 less than the brick top per clue 6, while Edna's Edibles' mushroom sells for $5 less than the velvet foot (Abby's Mart) per clue 5. Therefore, Edna's cannot be selling the pink bottom. Make sense?

Pink is $5 less than Brick
Edna is $5 less than Velvet
If [Pink is Edna] then both are $5 less than [Brick and Velvet].

        So
Pink equals Edna makes Brick equal Velvet.
Brick equals Velvet is false so Pink cannot equal Edna.
