Logic puzzle 2010 #31 Piano Quintet

i cant see where there is a clue for connecting the cello or piano to boccherini or goldmark. I have noe with the piano and phillip with the first violin but dont know the composer. I know boccherini is 2nd and goldmark is 1st. But dont know which order noe, phillip (and piano and first violin) are. What am i missing?

The Piano Quartet is a 4x5 puzzle from Volume 1, and it is puzzle #31. How did you interpret the last clause in the first clue? "... and the violinist whose selection will be played second."
This clause excludes the cellist, pianist, and violist from the second performance slot.
Also - I am sure that you are aware of the confusion factors with first and second violins and first and second performance slots. The violist can also be confused with the violinists.

Clue #1 follows the typical pattern for 5 mutual exclusions - with an extra exclusion thrown in excluding the second violin from the first performance slot. The important part is that the five mentioned options are all different or cannot be paired with each other. For example, Walter cannot be the second violinist nor the violinist who played in the second performance slot. We know that one of the violinists played in the second performance slot, but if the clue follows the typical pattern, the violinist that played in the second performance slot cannot be any of the other musicians mentioned in the clue.
