As someone recent to this site, I appreciate that building/maintaining this site is a lot of work, but I am thinking of some features that I would benefit from, as a relatively new user. As seasoned solvers, I'll bet other people have thought of other features. Is there a list somewhere of ideas for the devs?
It seems to me that with the Logic Puzzles, the grid size makes a HUGE difference in speed and points. I don’t know if that is unique to Logic Puzzles. But for a noob like me, there isn't really a way to see your progress. Is there some way using the stats available to make that more transparent?
For example, one suggestion: on the “My Score Card” page, could the breakdown of different grid sizes be available for “this month” and “last month”? Right now, it’s only broken out for the “lifetime” stats. If I could see my monthly points vis-a-vis grid sizes, it could be motivating. I could see my success rate and times improve, etc. These stats are probably stored, just not made visible, right?
Regarding average solve time, I wonder if median would make more sense? I know my averages are skewed because sometimes I have to leave the game and if I come back hours later, well, I assume that is factored in. Or maybe outliers are tossed? Don't know, but would be interested to know.
Regarding the high scores and competitive aspect, I am guessing that most people who are in the top 100 are playing the larger grids. Would there be any possibility of having competitions for different grid sizes?
It's less of an issue to me now than it was when I first started out, but I wonder if there were a feature for solvers to reorder the clues if that would be helpful to others and/or difficult to implement. Or if like, clicking the clue once put it at the bottom of the list, clicking it twice put it into the "Inactive Clues" area.
I'm having a lot of fun at the moment challenging myself to "top row only" solving. It would be fun to get "extra credit" for a solve that only used the top rows!
All to say, I'm having fun on the site, and wanted to offer some ideas to the devs, and perhaps start a discussion amongst solvers.
