been playing for a little bit now on pc. feel like I have decent grasp of all the patterns you look for. still feel really far from some of those records. do people who set those records have really good memory, play on phone feel like I'm plateauing a bit and curious.

for reference I can pretty comfortable score around 90-100 on 10x10 one star. but am still pretty far off records.

Memory won't help. There's way too many puzzles, literally thousands of each type. Most of the really fast ones don't place dots to eliminate squares, although once in a while you can get in top 10 even if you do that (but it's rare, I've done it maybe 15-20 times out of 9800 puzzles.) I've just recently (like in the last 2 days) gotten to the point where I feel comfortable not placing dots on most puzzles, but need more practice as my fastest doing it that way is still slower than my fastest placing dots (about 70s, instead of 45-60) but I know that with more practice, that will improve.

Your hand speed & board vision will improve just by playing a lot more. I am consistently top 3-5 in most puzzles I do & tend to place dots in the first half of a puzzle if it's got a lot going on. Once you can recognize all the basic shape patterns, you just need to start looking for more complex patterns on the board to improve further imo.
