That is quite the achievement! The concentration to do nothing but ultra-rares is amazing!!

Testing 1, 2, 3 (tap, tap, tap) is this thing on? Can anybody hear me? I just want to say that I saw Oppenheimer the other day and I thought it was a fabulous film. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. were excellent. The again maybe it is just because I am a physics guy. Just saying.

Two films out: Barbie and Oppenheimer. One's fluff and the other serious. Gee, I wonder which one had magic at the box office. Seriously, I'm considering seeing Oppenheimer. It has been literally years since I saw a new movie. As in "probably more than 20".

As a physics guy, are you fond of The Big Bang Theory? Wife had us binge watch the series. She seldom laughs out loud, but she was cracking up for each episode. Now we're working through Young Sheldon.

She also wanted to see The Barbie Movie, so went this morning. Oddly, it's mostly an anti-fluff movie. (I know it seems like it should be a fluff piece, bwt1213.) We both liked it. Flawed, but they tried to deal with social issues involved in the Barbie phenomenon.

I suppose it's like the physics/science of whipped cream. Sure it's not nutritious and it's all fluffy, but the same chemistry and physics that comprise the universe help formulate whipped cream.

I would venture that studying who we are and why we think like we do is not less valuable than studying other forces in the universe.

And part of who we are is a mixture of silly, petty, ignorant, self-absorbed, Et ali.

Yes, I have watched the Big Bang Theory. It was a very good show. Did they ever get the elevator fixed?

Yep. In the last few episodes, I think. But, we'd watch until I'd start to nod out-- so there are gaps, which leaves me unsure as to exactly how or why. (I'd ask the wife, but she's sleeping.)

Having that broken elevator was an impressively clever device for moving the plot. Fixing it would have been dramatically counter-productive.

I thought the finale was the best of any major show I've watched. We've been binge watching the major comedy series. Seinfeld hasn't weathered well.

I have to confess that I never watched Seinfeld more than about 10 minutes worth. I was at the dentist and Seinfeld was on the TV directly above my head. They do that to distract you, I guess. I didn't like it and they put a cricket match on at my suggestion. That was a lot better. My daughter told me TBBT was good, but I've never found series to be my thing; you're supposed to buy into the characters and I never could. My wife loved MASH and so I watched a lot of the episodes. The original Radar was amusing -- I'd also been the company clerk at a MASH unit in Korea. We had quonset huts instead of tents and the helipad was concrete, but we were in the middle of nowhere (11,000 feet from the DMZ). Sometimes they'd have Korean dialog and I could translate for her. The one where the woman was supposedly pregnant and the husband was rapidly saying stuff to Radar, supposedly about his wife, was really funny. He was ordering a sandwich (if I remember correctly, a hot pastrami on rye or something like that). Since then, no series with recurring characters like that.

Hadn't really been trying to get a Red Board for a while, but this happened unintentionally.

Seems to be a baseless idea most of us have that you need to know a zillion esoteric words to get better. But my experience suggests that's not true.

Relatively common UR words comprise almost every high scoring board I've ever done. Learning the common ones has the most value.

The ultra-ultra-rare words almost never come into play. And when they do, they aren't worth any more than a normal UR word.

It's just the way scoring works. Barring high value letters (j, z, x, q, k) a six-letter UR word is always going to be worth 10 points. Doesn't matter if it's the least known UR word or the most common.

Ran across mnae the other day. Just an accidental typing. Never heard of it. Couldn't find much of a definition. It was worth 6 points. Same as reen (also 6 points) which I see several times a day. Didn't even bother to add it to my inventory. Six points is six points--and I have limited brain space. (And mnae certainly lacks the interest of words like seity and aseity.

Every word you type has an opportunity cost. Depends on your typing speed, but no one can type all the words available on a thousand word board. Wasting time trying to find ultra-ultra-rare words costs you the opportunity to type buckets of common UR words.

Diminishing returns gradually negates trying to accumulate a bunch of words that you might....might see every third year. If ever.

Of course, if you've got some type of computer assist going to help you get impressive scores, then adding a bunch of useless words to your program might have utility.

Anyway. Some of you might find some value in the words from this uploaded game. Most of them just pop up almost daily.

Now theaters have recliner seats & cup holders for your beverage. The prices are still outrageous for the snacks but now you can bring your own & not have to sneak it in. @ the fancy ones they even offer blankets. food & cocktails - yes, I've enjoyed that a couple of times & its fabulous!
