Congratulations on a great find, lalatan!
I guess it's time to reassess what is possible, since this was unexpected.
Spike1007 refreshed me on special letters and mentioned can have one of each add to score
    (1 for J & K, 2 for X, 3 for Z, and 4 for Q).
So if there some word that had at least one of each, could have up to 11 extra points on top of [EDIT] 2*(25-1)=48 for 25 letter ultra rare word.
That seems to indicate [EDIT] 59 max points limit.
If there's one higher scorer, maybe there's another that gets even closer to the limit.

For example, This word has X,Z,Q and is singular with 24 letters: 48+2+3+4=55
So its plural might still be out there to be discovered, for 57 points.

Only 24 letters (if I can count). The plural would be 57 points.

Hah! I just posted that too!
Here are two better, if they exist in boards, at 60 points each (needs check, though):

          ALKOXYBENZYLOXYQUINONOIDS
          BENZYLOXYALKOXYQUINONOIDS

That would be cool to have both in the same board together!

[EDIT: should be 58 as Spike1007 corrected below]

I think possible valid sub words are

            ALKOXYBENZYLOXYQUINONOIDS
            BENZYLOXYALKOXYQUINONOIDS
            ALKOXYBENZYLOXYQUINONOID
            BENZYLOXYALKOXYQUINONOID
            ALKOXYQUINONOIDS
            ALKOXYQUINONOID
            BENZYLOXYQUINONOID
            QUINONOIDS
            QUINONOID
            BENZYLOXY
            OXYQUINOID
            BENZYLOXYQUINS
            ALKOOXYQUINS
            OXYQUINS
            BENZYLOXYQUIN
            ALKOOXYQUIN

So such a board could have 10-12+ ultra rare 9+ words in it.

Thanks Spike and BoggleOtaku. Since there may be the possibility of equal or better scoring words, I hope we see them less than the almost 5 years it took to see this...

[EDIT: original points +2 too high, now corrected, thanks for Naboka's post below]

It's worth taking another look at 4x4 as well, where I believe the top found word point currently is 37, quite a ways below the maximum possible of 41
I tried to come up potentially possible words equaling or exceeding 37.

                oxyphenbutazones (35)
                benzoquinazoline (37)
                aminoquinazoline (37)
                antiquarianizing (37)
                benzosemiquinone (37)
                hyperquixotizing (39)

Note: This is by the scoring I used for 5x5. Comparing these scores and my scoring for some of the monthly 4x4 words makes me suspect these are scored wrong, however... Maybe it's just late...

Decided to double check the word score on ALKOXYBENZYLOXYQUINONOIDS. (Again, if I can count) I'm getting 58. You only get credit for a special letter once per word, so only one X. Nevertheless, getting that is now my life's goal.

This is all above my paygrade. My ADHD usually drags me off for drinking and mischief after 16 letters.

Would guess that hyperquixotizing doesn't have a board, but it would be an appreciated addition.

If my math is right for hyperquixotizing ,q/4+x/2+z/3 would add 9 points to the basic 16/30. To get 41 would require a word with all of that plus a j and k.

Then again, what do I know. Having lived with the adage "you can't learn without making mistakes," I've discovered lately that you can also make a lot of mistakes without learning a damned thing.

ps: as proof of my mental lackings, I am often called a more-on when commenting on various news articles. Nothing quite shouts INTELLIGENCE like name calling.

I had thought I might finally top the best word list this month (admittedly, with the same word that BoggleOtaku won with last month)—but there's no one I'd rather be outdone by! Congrats, lalatan!

I see now, I forgot the -1 in counting letters...

                            Hi Naboka,

I was thinking that 16x2 (2 for UR) would be 32, and the 9 added to that would give 41...? BUT NOW I SEE I FORGOT -1, so it should be 30 like you have...

That word is the biggest moonshot out of the list, as I added a 5-letter prefix to get the maximum length. Would be grammatically correct but not likely found in a dictionary, although I haven't actually looked. Maybe there is some other combo of prefix/suffix that would work... Couldn't find anything with also a K, and the J would be even harder to get than the K.

I think it's pretty funny that we, or at least I, have been thinking until now that so many biggest pointers are big even point numbers that that was basically the end point of the game. Then, all in a month we have this thread on these 53- and-55 pointers and a path to even larger future scores all in chemical compounds. A delightful, unexpected twist in Wordtwist.
