  • Multiple greater/lesser than clues - confused.

    Could someone explain how I could figure this out?
    I'm not great at these puzzles at all and sometimes the wording confuses me but I just can't work out how this is possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    For situations like this, it sometimes helps me see the issue/next-step if I rewrite/retype the clues out like this, listing the items in the order they would appear in the completed top row:

    --Clue 8--
    Hope
    Alberta
    ~~~~~~and~~~~~~~
    --Clue 11--
    3
    Fort Kent
    Hope is one step 'less than' Alberta, and 3 is one step 'less than' Fort Kent. Alberta cannot be equal to Fort Kent (because you already figured out that Alberta = Cutler, not Fort Kent), so therefore Hope cannot be equal to 3.
    (Edited, sorry it's late and I wrote it wrong initially lol)
    Also, another possible next-step you could do with the information you have in the picture is the three X's in this picture, from Clue #6 - no matter what the possible solutions involving lane 2 and and lane 4 are, either way, score 380 will definitely be either lane 2 or lane 4, so you can eliminate all the other lanes for score 380.
