    Best solve yet

I just got my fastest time on any 8x8 ever, 7 seconds. I don't think I will ever get any faster than this.

Your records are crazy. My best ever was 25 seconds. How are you so fast?

thanks luckr! sub 10s are hard. a lot of it is just luck, and not placing any dots. you got this though!

Hey everyone! After thinking about the problem a lot, I'm pretty sure the fastest time can be improved (by quite a bit).
I have gotten one 10 seconds run through playing it quite a bit, but you need an absurdly easy puzzle, to not place dots, and to get lucky on the execution too. It's not really viable to improve on krakker's 7 seconds that way, because it would take too long.
But there is a way to know exactly which lever you're going to play ; let's say you solve a puzzle with a very distinct world record time, note where all the stars are, and just reload the puzzles until you find the one with the distinct wr time.
However, I will not be going for this strat. I'm pretty sure krakker got his 7 seconds legitimately, and the strategy is quite cheap - I'd rather beat it legit :). Also, for whoever attempts this, please note that the website will count every level you reload as not completed ; therefore, it will be quite easy to tell you were going for it.
                  Enjoy !

You could but there are tens of thousands of puzzles for each size. Good luck finding it again, and staying focused enough to recognize the puzzle again instantly. 7 seconds is great but does seem beatable, at least by a second or two. I play mostly 10x10 2 stars and I have a bunch of 16-17 second times, and I think even a 15s. That would be equivalent to 6 seconds in 8x8 1 star, and that's on a more difficult puzzle with more luck involved (do need some luck for times this fast) and more time between attempts. Patrick's plan is best if you just want to go for a crazy record. Go through puzzles as quick as you can, immediately place the stars and no dots, obviously start with small shapes but don't stop to think, just think about it as much as you can as you're placing other ones. Once you make a mistake just move on to the next one. Eventually you'll finish some and if you're clicking as fast as you can you should be able to get 5-6 seconds.

It's definitely beatable. Ironically, when I got my 7 second solve I didn't think it was very fast. You can restart every puzzle you mess up, but if you still care about your solve %, I think the website only counts the run when you click "Start this puzzle". Instead of purely finding that one puzzle, you can continuously click "Play" and "Create this puzzle" until you find one with a low record and average solve time. These are generally much easier to solve and also practice w/ no dots.

I agree, at times this fast you can't stop to think, and are mostly limited with how fast you can click your mouse. At some point it become less about whether you know a star is there or not, and more about what's most likely, or what general area is empty. That sounds like luck based nonsense (and it kinda is) but after doing it so much finding where the star goes becomes instinctual. Like, my mouse goes to the correct area before I actually process the puzzle properly. Or I remember patterns in how I moved my mouse to place stars that I can apply across multiple puzzles.

Or maybe I'm just addicted to this game lol

Yeah, I switched to (usually) not putting dots a while ago and you definitely develop an instinct for it. And even if something is a bit off I can make the minor adjustments and still be done faster than if I were putting dots.

Thanks all! Is it faster to use a mouse vs trackpad?
