I know jury duty doesn't fit into the fun stuff category, but it definitely fits into the rambling category, at least for me. Out of 150+ potential jurors I was selected today for jury duty. I know it's my civic duty, and I'm excited as this will be my first time. I'm only rambling about this because my dad will be flying in this Friday for two weeks, and I haven't seen him in seven years. I mean, the odds of having to serve jury duty while my dad is in town after not seeing him for seven years are pretty much the same as me besting MegaWord.

I stumbled across a new website: TV Garden. There's also a Radio Garden site, of course. TV Garden has free TV broadcasts from all over the world. Some are predictable: news broadcasts in a loop, etc. Others are unexpected: in the USA, PBS national feeds, TRU TV, and all kinds of old shows that appear otherwise on Pluto (and other such sites) plus old shows I swear I wouldn't have thought still existed. Thousands of them. But here's the thing: there are shows from every country in the world. Every. One. North Korea. Burkina Faso. Everywhere. And in lots of countries, the shows are pretty much the daily live feed. That certainly seems to be the case in India, South Korea, Pakistan, Australia, France, and dozens of others at least. And while some broadcasts are geoblocked (some Canadian broadcasts can't be viewed in the USA, for example, and I imagine there are others depending on where you live) most are not. And here's the thing: I know a lot of people on this site are not living in their home country and would like to see or hear broadcasts from there. Well, now you know a way.

Silly geographic coincidence: the antipode of Taipei is in... Formosa. As in Formosa Province, Argentina.

Also: Queen's University is in Kingston, Kingston is in Jamaica, and Jamaica is in Queens.

August 6, 2024: we're putting the day to rest. It's our 58th wedding anniversary today. We're ending it quietly; we're old folks. But it's been a nice day.

Congratulations! Fifty-eight years! There is nothing better than a nice day. Great days are loud, they shout, "look at me! I'm special!" Great days are ephemeral. Nice days are like ripples in a pond spreading out leisurely. Nice days are like a hug. Hope that you have many more nice days.

That's pretty impressive. Can only hope we make it that long together.

Though that would put me over 100.

                Still.

Why not swing for the fences?

That's an awesome accomplishment! Many happy returns and lots of nice days in between : )

Always swing for the fences. You're not out until you're not in the game; there's no three-strike rule and no umpire. A friend's parents recently celebrated their 75th.

Thanks! I'll make every effort to include as many nice days as possible. They seem to matter more, now.
