16-letter words

No wonder I seldom get above the average score in Wordtwist. When I see that someone's best word is " HYPERCYCLOIDALLY" as I just did, I haven't got a chance! lol
Once, a few years back, I managed to get a 12-letter word, ("indiscretely"), but I seldom get more than eight. Is there a secret to getting longer words, or is it just something you're born with?

I don't play for long words. My longest (recorded) 4x4 word is 10 letters. When I start finding long words it means I am having a bad game, score wise, and I dump the game. I have dumped 11, 12 and 13 letter words. If I ever manage to find a 16 letter word I certainly won't dump the game. What you can do to find long words is to make, what some folks call, "Frankenwords" find suffixes and prefixes and attach them to root words. especially -nesses suffix. Works well with bio and chem roots.
