Anyone else been playing this game for years?

Hello! I'm making a forum post here because whenever I think about or play this game, I am always reminded of how it's been at the background of my life for so many years. I started playing puzzle baron when I was in high school, I played it through college, and I still play it now that I have graduated. So, I have been playing on this site for at least 8 years, maybe 12.

I'm posting in circuits because it is probably my best game. I also play numbergrids (nonograms) a lot, puzzle baron was my introduction to nonograms and they are one of my favorite puzzles. My third favorite is jigsaw puzzles, I do those when I want something less logic based.

Anyway, my point with this post is to say that it's funny how this site has been part of my life for so many years, and how puzzle baron circuits are probably one of the things that I'm best at, since I've put in so many hours, but because it's just a puzzle site and the games aren't like chess or e-sports, I don't really think about the games much unless I'm playing them, and I don't really talk about them like they're my hobbies or anything. I've just been playing puzzle baron in the background while I watch youtube/television, or when I'm in between doing things, or on the phone with someone, and it's like a constant, silent companion.

I've also been seeing a lot of your usernames over and over again, through the years, and I often wonder about the people behind the usernames, those of us who clearly spend a lot of time playing this game. So, what's your story with puzzle baron? Do you ever wish that you could make money off of circuit puzzles the way people make money off of chess? Do you have friends that also play? Do you have a ritual with puzzle baron games, like it's your morning or nighttime routine to play a few to relax?

Number one tip is to do the outside pieces first, the logic to solve them is simpler and helps you with the next pieces. Once you get in the middle bits, just look for pieces that can only have one solution, like bulbs with only one possible connecting piece, or the straight pieces a lot of the time. If you're solving a section and are not sure about it, just immediately move on to somewhere else, it will probably make more sense with the rest of the puzzle solved. Also, if you're not solving using both the mouse buttons, start doing that and you'll solve them in less moves.

I hope that helps, thanks for the compliment also lol, I am glad to see I am not alone!

I had been playing Circuits off and on for at least a couple of years before I created an account in March 2016 (hard to believe it's been almost a decade). My work involved quite a bit of waiting for email or text responses, so I would play while I waited. I also did quite a bit of travelling for work, where I spent quite a bit of time alone in hotel rooms in the evenings.

I've had a tendency to take breaks of several months but always seem to come back to Circuits. I've tried some of the other Puzzle Baron games, but none have really grabbed my attention.

I played this one a LOT in 2021, then spent a long time playing no games at all, and just started playing online games again last week, including this one. It's a good thinking puzzle, and good for eye-hand coordination, too.

P.S. With this game I sometimes make number ten on the fewest rotations.

Your post is funny for me, because it's basically my relationship with puzzlebaron too haha! Found this site in high school, and I'm about to graduate with my bachelors in a few weeks. And same, I don't usually talk about this site as a hobby, but it's absolutely my go-to when I'm watching youtube. I'm never fast enough for the leaderboard, so I usually shoot for fewest rotations and can usually get there. Still waiting for the month I can dedicate enough time to get 1st on the leaderboard haha!

Appreciate this post, and would love to hear more people's experience with this site.

Yes! I believe I started playing this game in 2016 or 2017 and here I am in 2025 still playing. Every now and then I'll finish a puzzle and see myself on the leaderboard from years ago.

Haven't been playing Circuits for a long time but Logic Puzzles I started I believe before the websites even existed, so like in the late 2000s, which is a bit crazy to think about. I pop in to play a few types of puzzles every once in a while
I just graduated university recently, and this is my childhood: I remember solving logic puzzles on paper every morning and adding it to my paper folder to keep track of them.

I've just returned to it after 4 years. I moved on to Lasergrids, then Numbergrids and more recently Vector Puzzles. I've settled on the latter, because I can get 1st place at any level, and nearly always get first place on the 9x9 grids to the 14x14 grids. I usually get on the leaderboard for the 8x8s and the 15x15s, and occasionally get first place.

It seems that a lot of people only do the 8x8 or the 15x15 - there are only one or two players other than me that you regularly see on both leaderboards, and hardly anyone who turns up on all leaderboards. The mid-range puzzles don't seem to appeal to people who are expert in one extreme or the other - and the strategies for success are very different on the smallest board to the largest board, which might explain why.

I have also twice got first place at every level in 8 consecutive games, which is really hard to do - like a 147 in snooker, or a perfect game in baseball.

I'm back here for a bit of variety. I can't remember how I found this site in the first place, but I'm glad I did - I've spent hundreds of hours on it, and play pretty much every day - mostly when I should be doing something else!

Like you, I often wonder about the people behind the usernames. Some of them are so familiar I feel like I know them, even though I know nothing about them apart from how good they are at puzzles. And like you I also often play games whilst doing something else.
