I seldom give a confusing rating, but, "If you wouldn't live long," and, "folly and wickedness shorten life," then you would most zealously pursue folly and wickedness. It's almost like Benny the Frank is saying, "Live fast; die young; leave a good looking corpse."

The quote should be "wouldst," not "wouldn't." The latter makes no sense.

I wish I got a paycheck for not being on the side of the executioners. It could easily be a work-at-home job, so I'd never have to deal with a long commute or office politics. Where can I sign up?

Economics is an outgrowth of sociology and psychology applied to matters of commerce. Given a certain set of economic rules, it can at least make an attempt to predict an outcome. It tends to inaccuracy, because it deals best with large numbers of people and powerful individuals can skew outcomes, as can natural events. For instance the financial penalties imposed on Germany after the first world war, set the stage for the second. Those penalties in economic terms, impoverished Germany and set it on a path of seeking revenge.

The real quote is, "The magic of first love is our ignorance that it can EVER end." (emphasis mine). It is from his book "Henrietta Temple" (1837). (link)

So, you didn't answer the phone and just left your curiosity unassuaged? I guess you need to ride out curiosity like the common cold.
