So, here I am at 3:33 AM and it's COLD. As in -14F, and that's actually better than earlier when it was just -13F but with higher winds. It's supposed to be -19F tonight and we're supposed to take measures against frozen pipes. Yeah, I can turn the water on and run a trickle from my kitchen sink all night, And if I wake up tomorrow morning and the water's not running, what am I supposed to do, considering that it's Saturday? Curse the fact that emergencies happen on weekends? Just like dog health emergencies happen only on weekends, and personal health problems happen only on weekends? My latest was basically a paper cut from a stupid cardboard box on my left shin, and it got infected. I'm healing and okay and not happy and cold and it's a weekend. And the original ER visit? Friday.
I wish my wife were still here and we could face life together. Something you can all consider for future winter days. And if you have a spouse, please remember that there might well come days when that spouse will not be there to warm your bed, nag you to come to sleep, cook your breakfasts, and tell you the words you need to hear that will make your days bearable. 58 years worth bearable. And the Gurney seed catalog arrived yesterday. We both loved gardening. Imagine.
