    We don't experience tedium because most of these quotes lack pretension. Do you feel quotes by Will Rogers, Bob Dylan or Satchel Paige are full of pretension?

    No..I suppose you're right Bansai. I could cheerfully do without some of Ben Franklin's and H.L. Mencken"s quotes even if I don't consider them pretentious.

    And when you consider that Einstein is Einstein, and not the guy who cleans your pool or bags your groceries, his quotes seem pretty unpretentious, too.
