Hi. I'm still having the problem. Thanks for your help. image.png

      Hi pigletta -

Can you let me know what your browser and operating system is?

I am having this issue again too. Screen shots are what I am seeing. Can't see the clock counting down and it makes it difficult to do the puzzels. I have been playing this game for a while and this has just started happing in the last month. Can you go back to the old format of adds that don't cover the board??

I've removed the top ad from the gameplay page now and moved it to the bottom of the page. I'm hoping this will prevent gameboard overlay.

Trust me when I say I am absolutely as annoyed with all this as you are. We have explicit instructions in place with our ad management company to disallow all auto-expanding ads and they are continuing to drop the ball by letting these ads through. I am exploring alternate options as we speak.

Not to nitpick but the board proportion now changes from the time you select a board to "start play". Wordtwist logo enlarges and everything is now top-shifted when you're actually playing.......my eyesight isn't that great so I've set my browser (Chrome) zoom to 110% to enlarge things a bit. Was perfect before but now the active "play" board is a bit too large. If I unzoom it's too small.

              Hi Russ -

I didn't intentionally change any board proportions so I'm a little confused as to what's happening for you, could you let me know what browser you're using and maybe post a screenshot of the issue? The only change should be that the same game board as before is now slightly higher up on the page now that the navigation and top ad has been removed.

Thanks for the reply. That’s what I meant—the board is higher up on the page and seems slightly enlarged. The top part of your admin avatar gets cut off when you start to play a game—you used to be able to see the full avatar and the board was better centered on the screen.

During game play the navigation bar disappears making it difficult and time consuming to dump a game in progress.Screen Shot 2025-05-06 at 6.13.58 AM.png

                    Use Alt-backarrow.

And below is what the start game page looks like. Your avatar is cut off and mine is enlarged. Once you "Click here to start!" the board is top-shifted whereas it used to be nicely centered on the page.

I've restored the navigation bar and header size to its previous state now.

Thanks Stephen but the game board itself is still in a different orientation.

If you click "Start play", then "Click here to start!" the game board appears more centered now but the "Rotate", "Submit" and "Start a new game" (if you want to abort the current board) are all cut off.

You have to physically scroll up using your mousepad to get the board and all the bottom functions to appear on the same screen at the same time. Once you do this the game board is again then top-shifted to higher up on the screen. Obviously I play a lot and immediately noticed that my line of sight has changed if I scroll up after selecting " Click here to start". This slight change in my line of sight is really annoying and having to scroll up immediately on starting a game takes an extra step that wasn't needed before. Screen shot below:

RussDNails, I experienced the same thing you're describing when I started playing the 6x6 boards. A solution that works for me is to scroll the screen upwards before clicking "click here to start." It might take a few tries before you find the sweet spot, but it will stop you losing those precious seconds in the actual game. My sweet spot is scrolling up until the selection bar (home/play/F.A.Q etc) are almost off the screen. I tried it out on the 5x5 board and it works for me.

The compiled screenshot shows what it looks like without and with scrolling on the "click to start" screen with the relevant game screen directly below. The left is unscrolled and the right is scrolled. I hope this helps you out until a permanent solution is found.

Great tip—thanks! Not on my laptop right now but next time I get a chance will definitely try this out. You’re exactly right—having to take that split second to scroll up is frustrating enough to throw me off my game just a bit.

The 5 x 5 game board is also still sitting too high up on the screen when you scroll up as seen in your last screen shot—this is another subtlety that is affecting my game play as it takes time for my brain to adjust. I’m used to seeing it a little lower on my laptop screen so my line of sight is slightly downward but now I have to look almost straight ahead at the board. I guess eventually my brain will adapt but I’m hoping the admin will be able to get things back to “normal”.

Thanks again for the helpful advice!

                                Cheers,

                                Russ
