Okay this thread was bound to go meta eventually - I was delighted to see this from Sippy Gurl in the above post! It's a toast that you hear in the Hawaiian islands all the time, and it means something like "your a** to the moon!" Great way to say "bottoms up," don't you think??

Oddcouple and Universalmom, and others too, thanks for throwing me a thank-you! For a while before I started this, I was fairly bursting with the need to put some of this group's brilliant retorts and message-in-a-bottle conversations in one place. The group has really gotten into it, and it is SO gratifying!! You folks have made this thread into a delightful repository in a fairly short time. I have laughed out loud many times just scanning through the posts.

                              • A reminder about posting classic comments . . .

                                Hey youse guys,

This thread has been more fun than I ever expected. And now that we are on page 26 (unbelievable -- in 8 weeks), I want to put out this reminder about posting.

You don't have to post every comment from the quote's comment box.

                                In other words:

                                * You can post just a single comment out of a longer thread, or some, or most, or all of them. Your choice.

                                * You can omit in-between comments that are unrelated to the magic.

                                * Do keep each comment itself just as it was, though.

I personally prefer the pared-down-thread approach when preserving a "best of" moment. BUT paring down the thread is just an option. If you like the unabridged approach, go for it -- there is also magic in seeing a classic moment against the background of everyday banter. Kinda like the setting for a diamond.

Thanks, everyone, for this amazing thread.

                                Lisa
