And now, folks, it's time for a special award. LLapp, please come up to the podium, if you would. Is she in the audience? I don't see her. Oh, there she is! Yes, I see her in the back, she's making her way down the aisle now. Folks, for those of you who are listening at home, I'm sorry you can't see this scene before me. There's abra blowing LLapp a kiss, and montyb giving a jaunty salute in her direction as LLapp comes toward the stage. And here she is, shaking hands with maradnu and gryhnd51 as she comes forward. Please, folks, please, let's have a little quiet here, let's settle down ... shh, shh.... LLapp, on behalf of the Cryptograms Commentators Committee of the Smartass Solvers Society, may I present you with this Trophy for Not Saying Something Political. Folks, listen to that cheering. Cameras are flashing and confetti is raining down -- wait, it's not ordinary confetti, it's thousands of Oxford commas in the air around LLapp as she holds the trophy high. What athleticism! That trophy's gotta weigh 35 pounds there, and she hoists it in one hand like it's nothing. Wow, her cross-training with, I'm told, Fowler's Modern English Usage and the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition, has really paid off! Amazing!

Who cares if you solve the puzzles quickly or not? Isn't the secret prize being illuminated by a great quote? If a cryptogram is a box of Cracker Jacks, the caramel coated popcorn, peanuts and a prize here are the quote itself, and your written response to it. What if the quote you got today was so great, you changed your mind, that changed your life, and you changed the world for the better, forever? Wouldn't that be better than beating bansaisequoia by two shakes of a rabbit's tail?

Really hard to know what this is supposed to mean - second helping of a meal seems to fit but doesn't seem to relate to inertia (well, i guess you stay at the table, but you're eating so you're not inert). How about if he meant seconds as a unit of time? So when i'm enjoying perfectly good seconds doing something like, i dunno, say Cryptograms for example, it leads to inertia with respect to my work. Oh crap! I have a report due - gotta go!

You just start eating and keep on eating and eating and eating, not getting up from the table. That's culinary inertia as distinct from the physics definition of inertia.
